No Season 6 Game of Thrones Filming in Croatia

Hit HBO series Game of Thrones will not be back in Croatia this year to film for season 6…

There had been talked that HBO would be moving production to Spain, and on Friday HBO confirmed the rumours.

“We can confirm that based on story and location needs, Game of Thrones will not be shooting in Croatia for season 6. The question of whether the production will return to Croatia in the future will be decided once additional seasons are officially set by HBO. At that time, the production, along with HBO, will assess their location needs based on the scripts and storylines. HBO remains grateful to the HAVC (Croatian Audiovisual Centre) and the Croatian crew for all of their continued support,” HBO have said in a statement reported by portal Winter is Coming.

HBO had shot in Dubrovnik, Klis and Šibenik for the hit series over the last few seasons. The exposure had done wonders for Croatian tourism, especially in Dubrovnik, where GoT tours, and recently the original Throne were attractions.
