A new county-level public transport service is set to begin on 14 May 2025 across Lika-Senj County, offering residents and visitors a reliable and affordable way to travel across the region.

Known as Lika Line, the bus network will be jointly funded by the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure and Lika-Senj County.

Located in Croatia’s mountainous interior between the Adriatic coast and Plitvice Lakes, Lika-Senj is the country’s largest and most sparsely populated county.

This initiative aims to significantly improve regional connectivity and mobility, especially in rural areas.

Following a public procurement process, two companies—Autotrans d.d. and Prijevoz Knežević d.o.o.—were selected to operate the service from 2025 to 2032.

The Croatian Government approved the co-financing agreement earlier this month, allocating over €27.5 million for the service from 2026 to 2032. Funding for 2025 is already secured through county and national budgets.

The Lika Line network will include 25 routes and 266 bus stops, some connecting locations for the first time. Destinations span from Gospić, Otočac and Senj to Plitvice Lakes, Novalja, Udbina, and Karlobag, offering crucial links for communities and tourism hotspots alike.

The region will be divided into four fare zones, with a single-zone ticket priced at €1 and a monthly pass at €10, making travel highly accessible.

The official contract signing and promotion will take place in Gospić on 12 May, followed by a symbolic first ride and a presentation of promotional materials to the public.

Full schedules and updates will be available soon on the Lika Line and Lika-Senj County official websites.
