NBA stars Luka Dončić and Goran Dragić were in the crowd last night as former basketball player Shaquille O’Neal performed as DJ Diesel on the Croatian island of Krk.
Shaq performed on Thursday night at Diamond club near Malinska on Krk.
With his DJ set – a combination of trap, EDM and hip hop – he created a charged up atmosphere in front of several thousand people in the recently opened club.
Among the enthusiastic partygoers there were fans from all over Croatia, as well as numerous tourists, and many came dressed in the club jerseys Shaq played for.
Shaq won over the audience at the very beginning with the shout “Ruke gore” – meaning hands up in Croatian. In the crowd were famous NBA basketball players Luka Dončić and Goran Dragić, and they would also join him on stage.
Modest and accessible, Shaq tirelessly signed autographs and took photos with fans who tried to be as close as possible to the stage and their idol.
“You have to be patient with people because they are here for you. People should respect each other and live in peace. I want to meet people and culture wherever I go,” Shaq said.
He told reporters that if he is still O’Nealović, how he called himself during his last visit to Croatia.
“I like that many people with surnames ending in -ić are great shooters. “It shows a lot about this country where some of the best players in the NBA come from,” said Shaq.
He compared the atmosphere at his parties to a basketball game. “It’s an equal pleasure to perform as a DJ or play basketball in front of an audience. The atmosphere is similar, people come to have fun, enjoy themselves and are ready to pay for it,” said the former basketball player.
Shaquille O’Neal has always shown an interest in music, and even during his basketball career he released several rap albums. In recent years, he has been a big star of night clubs and festivals, such as the famous Tomorrowland, where he performs in front of tens of thousands of fans.
Before and after DJ Diesel, his son Myles O’Neal also performed, who, in addition to his demonstrated talent for playing music, danced the whole time with the crowd who witnessed the incredible synergy of father and son on stage.
Both of them expressed their delight at the reaction of the crowd and announced that they must return to Krk again.
