Mozart For Basketball’s Mozart – Anniversary Of Drazen Petrovic’s Death To Be Marked

On Friday night (7 June) at the Vatroslav Lisinski concert hall in the Croatian capital, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a concert to mark the 20th anniversary since the death of basketball legend Drazen Petrovic, who was tragically killed in a car accident on 7 June 1993.

Under the baton of maestro Pavle Despalj, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra will play Haydn, Albinoni and Mozart, fitting for a man who was nicknamed ‘Basketball’s Mozart’.

Along with the concert, a photo exhibition of Drazen’s life will be held at the Drazen Petrovic memorial centre. The Croatian football team will also mark the anniversary of the former NBA legends death by placing a reef on his grave in Zagreb today. Petrovic was just 28 when he was killed in a car accident in Germany after returning from playing for Croatia in Poland.
