Miss & Mr Unemployed Crowned in Split

It was not your everyday beauty pageant, but on Thursday night at Cafe Bar Bačvice in the Dalmatian city of Split, Miss and Mr Unemployed were crowned…

The pageant, which was organised by the Split-Dalmatia County Unemployed Association, aimed to promote and support young ‘unemployed’ entrepreneurs in the area. All of the costumes worn by the contestants were designed by local creators. The Association was set up to help with networking for young people on the search for work, and also to provide support and help for those with a business idea. Unemployment is a huge problem in Croatia, especially among the nation’s youth, with close to 300,000 (out of 4.2 million) registered as unemployed.

The title of Miss Unemployed went to Vlatka Jurić, whilst Tonči Koceić was crowned Mr Unemployed. You can check out photos here courtesy of Slobodna Dalmacija.
