ZAGREB, 8 June 2025 (Hina) – Croatia’s Minister for Demography and Immigration, Ivan Šipić, took part on Saturday in the “Domovina Birthright Program” summer school, an educational programme designed for young members of the Croatian diaspora.

Speaking at the event, the Minister underscored the importance of familiarising these young people with the opportunities Croatia has to offer.

Among these opportunities are special university admission quotas, scholarships for learning the Croatian language, and the “Choose Croatia” (Biram Hrvatsku) initiative – all aimed at encouraging young diaspora members to consider studying in Croatia, with some perhaps even choosing to settle permanently.

The Domovina Birthright Program summer school has been running since 2019, and this year marks its fourth edition. The 2025 programme is being held from 1 to 13 June.

Targeting young adults of Croatian heritage aged 18 to 30, the programme offers participants a chance to travel across the country over a two-week period, experiencing Croatia’s rich history, culture, and natural heritage firsthand.

Participants will visit a range of cities including Dubrovnik, Sinj, Zadar, Varaždin, Osijek, Vukovar, Šibenik, Split, and Zagreb.

“We’re pleased to see young members of the Croatian diaspora exploring the country from end to end in just 15 days. I’m confident this experience will help strengthen their Croatian identity,” said Minister Šipić.

The Domovina Summer School is organised by the Central State Office for Croats Abroad in partnership with the Association of Croatian American Professionals (ACAP).
