Medjimurje Technological Innovation Centre opens third building

ZAGREB, Sept 10 (Hina) – The Medjimurje Technological Innovation Centre on Thursday opened the third building of the business incubator and the renovated attic in the first building, and a total of 1,000 square metres of the new space has already been filled up with start-up companies.

The building was opened as part of the final conference “Investing in the expansion of entrepreneurial business infrastructure in Medjimurje County’s Knowledge Centre”, a project worth HRK 13.2 million, of which HRK 12 million came from European funds and the rest from the Medjimurje County budget.

Director of the Medjimurje Technological Innovation Centre, Ivan Placko, said that the first two buildings, renovated in 2010 and 2011, were filled to capacity in 2016, and they decided to expand the incubator to the former army barracks in Cakovec.

The attic in the first building was renovated into the first co-working space in Medjimurje.

“Given the great interest in our spaces, which is a good sign that people are still keen to launch their entrepreneurial ventures, we have filled up both facilities even before the construction works were completed,” Placko said, adding that they are thinking of expanding by renovating the attic of another building.

Medjimurje County Prefect Matija Posavec underscored that the greatest value of the project was the additional investment in the Knowledge Centre.

A total of HRK 110 million has been invested in this area, if we include the Technological Innovation Centre, the associate degree college, the student residence hall, the Centre for Sustainable Development and the Metal Core, Posavec said
