Martin Sinković pips brother Valent to win Croatian Ergometer Championship

The Croatian Indoor Rowing Ergometer Championships was held on Sunday in the Zamet Sports Centre in Rijeka.

The event was organised in accordance with epidemiological measures, so instead of 500 competitors, this year there are 80 of them, the best from Croatia, and everything took place without spectators.

Croatian rowing legends, the Sinković brothers, were the main attraction and finished first and second.

Younger brother Martin, who is 31, just pipped Valent (32) to win.

“He got me the last few meters, but I did my best, that’s the most important thing. This is close to our best,” said Valent Sinković.

Martin added: “My brother and I are first and second, the difference was two hundredths of a second, I think. We are very close, I am very glad about that. It is always great here in Rijeka at the competition. These races are always very close between us and the organisation is perfect as always.”

Croatia indoor 2000 m results:

1st place – Martin Sinković – 5:48.3
2nd place Valent Sinković – 5:48.5
