Marin Čilić Out of this Weekend’s Davis Cup Clash Against Serbia

mARINBad news for the Croatian Davis Cup tennis team with news that Marin Čilić is out of their clash with Serbia which starts on Friday…

Čilić, initially named in the team, has not played a competitive match of tennis in 2015 and on Monday did not join up with the Croatian side in Kraljevo where they trained ahead of this weekend’s World Group first round tie.

Croatia coach Željko Krajan said on Monday that Čilić’s shoulder injury has not fully recovered and that he was not fit to play a best of 5-set match. Little known player Franko Škugor has joined up with the squad in place of the US Open champion. Borna Ćorić and Mate Delić will play the singles rubbers, whilst Škugor and Marin Draganja will play the doubles.
