Marin Cilic loses to World Number 219

Although it was the tournament’s 4th seed up against a 219th world ranked wildcard, Croatia’s number one tennis player Marin Cilic has been knocked out of the ATP tournament in Beijing in the first round.

Cilic lost to Marius Copil from Romania 3-6,7-6(0), 6-4 in just over two and a half hours. The loss puts a huge dent in Cilic’s goal to be amongst the top eight tennis players in the world in the “Race to London” list, who will fight it out at the O2 Arena in the last Masters tournament of the season.
