After a short break following the FIFA World Cup, Luka Modrić arrived Australia on Sunday as he joined up with his club AC Milan on their pre season tour.

The Croatian captain arrived at the team’s hotel in Perth, where hundreds of supporters gathered to welcome him.

Among them were many members of the Croatian community in Australia, who patiently waited for the opportunity to meet one of the country’s greatest footballers.

Modrić spent time signing autographs and posing for photographs, receiving a warm reception from fans before linking up with his teammates.

AC Milan are in Australia as part of their 2026 pre season tour. The Rossoneri will face city rivals Inter in Perth on 5 August before travelling to Jakarta, where they will take on Chelsea on 8 August.

The 40 year old midfielder recently extended his contract with AC Milan until the summer of 2027, ensuring he will continue his career with the Italian club for at least another season.

Under new head coach Ruben Amorim, Modrić could take on an even more influential role than last season. While his workload is expected to be managed carefully, the experienced Croatian is widely expected to provide leadership and creativity as Milan build for the new campaign.
