Legendary The Smiths Guitarist Johnny Marr to Play in Zagreb

Legendary English musician Johnny Marr, best know as the guitarist and co-songwriter of The Smiths, is coming to perform in the Croatian capital. 

Marr (54) will play at Yammatovo 4 fueled by Cockta at Zagreb’s Lauba on 24 November 2018. 

Born in Manchester, Marr formed the Smiths with Morrissey in 1982. The Smiths attained great success and were critically acclaimed, with Marr’s jangle pop guitar style becoming distinctive of the band’s sound. 

After leaving in 1987 due to personal differences with Morrissey, Marr played with bands like the Pretenders, The The and Electronic.

Marr also has worked the likes of Talking Heads, Hans Zimmer, Bryan Ferry, Pet Shop Boys, Oasis, Pearl Jam and Crowded House. 

Marr was voted the fourth best guitarist of the last 30 years in a poll conducted by the BCC in 2010.  He has been described as “arguably Britain’s last great guitar stylist” and In 2013 NME honoured Marr with its “Godlike Genius” award.
