José Carreras to perform in Dubrovnik this August

Dubrovnik is set to welcome one of the world’s best-known tenors, José Carreras, for a special concert in front of the city’s historic Cathedral on 27 August 2026.

Carreras will perform at 9.30pm, accompanied by Croatian soprano Dušica Bijelić and the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Giménez.

The concert will bring the renowned Spanish tenor to one of Dubrovnik’s most recognisable historic settings, combining a major international classical music name with the city’s heritage architecture.

Carreras, who has enjoyed a career spanning more than five decades, is widely recognised for his performances on the world’s leading opera and concert stages. He became internationally known through his work in opera and as one of the celebrated members of The Three Tenors, alongside Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo.

The Dubrovnik concert is part of the city’s continued efforts to strengthen its position as a destination for major international cultural and musical events.

Organisers said the event would once again bring together Dubrovnik’s historic setting and internationally recognised music, creating a concert experience in one of Croatia’s most distinctive locations.

Ticket sales are due to begin next week, with further information expected ahead of the performance.

The concert adds another major name to Dubrovnik’s cultural programme and highlights the city’s continuing role as a venue for international artists and large-scale musical performances.
