Ivo Karlovic Ends Career of Former World Number 4 at US Open

ivo-karlovicCroatian tennis player Ivo Karlovic has ended the career of American former world number four James Blake in the first round of the US Open at New York’s Louis Armstrong Stadium today.

Blake (33), who was playing his last tournament before retiring, received a standing ovation from the 10,000 strong crowd after losing in a five-set thriller to the big serving Croat. Karlovic, who was out of the game earlier this year for two months after suffering from viral meningitis, turned around a 0:2 deficit to eventually win the match 6-7(2) 3-6 6-4 7-6(2) 7-6(2).
