SPLIT, Croatia, 7 July 2026 – Former Croatia international Ivan Rakitić has ended his mandate as technical director of HNK Hajduk Split after his contract expired on 30 June 2026, the club confirmed today.
Rakitić, who joined Hajduk in the summer of 2024 at the end of his playing career, will remain part of the club’s structure through a new role as an ambassador, representing Hajduk in Croatia and abroad.
After retiring from playing, Rakitić moved into the role of technical director, where he worked on the development of the club’s sporting operations.
Hajduk said his international knowledge, football expertise and network of contacts made a significant contribution to the club’s sporting department, with Rakitić also involved in several transfer activities.
“His dedication and connection with Hajduk will remain permanently recorded in the club’s history,” Hajduk said in a statement, thanking Rakitić for his contribution both as a player and as a technical director.
The 38-year-old enjoyed a highly successful playing career, winning major trophies at club level and representing Croatia national football team at international tournaments, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup where Croatia reached the final.
