Ivan Dodig wins back to back French Open mixed doubles titles

PARIS, 7 June 2019 – Croatia’s Ivan Dodig (34) has won back to back French Open mixed doubles titles on Friday at Roland Garros.

Dodig has won the mixed doubles title with his Taiwanese partner Latisha Chan, beating his Croatian Davis Cup teammate Mate Pavić and Gabriela Dabrowski in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 in today’s final.

The Croatian/Taiwanese pairing, who were defending champions, were too strong for the tournament’s 2nd seeds on the day. They made light work of the opening set after breaking twice early.

Pavić and Dabrowski, who won the 2018 Australian Open together, put up a stronger fight in the second set but could not stop Dodig and Chan from winning their second Grand Slam title together.

Dodig and Chan did not drop a set the whole tournament. The victory was Dodig’s third Grand Slam title in his career. He also won the doubles titles with Brazil’s Marcelo Melo in 2015.

It has been a great calendar year for Dodig who also won the Davis Cup title with Croatia back in November.
