Ivan Dodig Wins ATP Title in Acapulco

dodigA Croatian has etched their name on yet another ATP tour trophy…

This weekend it was the turn of Ivan Dodig. Dodig and his Brazilian partner Marcelo Melo have won the Abierto Mexicano Telcel Doubles title in Acapulco.

Dodig and Melo, who have been in 8 ATP finals, Wimbledon final, two US Open semi-finals and a semi-final at the Australian Open, beat Poland’s Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Mexico’s Santiaga González 7-6(2), 5-7, 10-3 in 1 hour and 40 minutes to claim the title.

“I felt like I was playing Davis Cup. The crowd supported their player right till the end. The fans were fantastic, and I want to thank everyone,” said Melo, who with Dodig were presented with a Mexican sombrero along with the winners cheque and trophy.
