Luka Modrić may have played his final game in the famous white shirt of Real Madrid in La Liga, but the Croatian captain could still remain at the top level of European football.
As Modrić prepares with the Croatian national team for their upcoming World Cup 2026 qualifier against Gibraltar on Friday, speculation is mounting over where the 39-year-old maestro will continue his illustrious career.
After 13 successful years in Madrid, Modrić received a grand farewell from the club, although he will play in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States that will run from June 14 to July 13.
Although some reports suggested he could stay in the Spanish capital next season, with newly-qualified European competition side Rayo Vallecano showing interest, a more high-profile move may be on the cards.
Italian football insider Matteo Moretto has exclusively revealed that AC Milan are keen to bring Modrić to San Siro this summer.
The Serie A giants have already begun internal discussions about signing the Croatian midfielder on a free transfer, following the expiry of his contract with Real Madrid.
Milan’s new sporting director, Igli Tare – appointed just a week ago – is wasting no time in shaping the club’s future and reportedly sees Modrić as a valuable addition to their squad.
