Istrian Extra Virgin Olive Oil Proclaimed World’s Best

An Istrian olive oil has been named the best extra virgin olive oil in world from the buze variety in the medium fruit flavour category, according to this year’s edition of the famous world extra virgin olive oil guide Flos olei.

The wining producer Antonio Pastrovicchio says the accolade is a huge honour and says that a lot of hard work goes into producing the quality olive oil.

“It is like going to the Olympics and becoming the champion of the world. I look at it like that, I managed to become the world champion,” said a happy Pastrovicchio to Croatian television. The guide rates over 600 olive oils from 5 continents with Istria coming just behind Toscana when it comes to the number of olive oils to feature in the guide.
