Istria Declared Best Olive Oil Region in the World

Istrian olive oil dominates again

The Croatian region of Istria has for the third year in a row been named the best olive oil region in the world by leading guide Flos Olei.

Flos Olei, which is the first international extra virgin olive oil guide, have this year included 75 Istrian olive oils in their latest 2018 guide which was presented in Rome today.

That number is the most out of all the nations featured in the Flos Olei 2018.

The guide, which comes in Italian and English editions, presents the best 500 olive oils from 50 countries in 5 continents based on a panel of expert tasters.

The detailed cartography includes both the best olive areas and the ones protected by names of origin.

One Croatian olive oil from Istria also features in the TOP 20 in the 2018 guide. That honour goes to extra virgin olive oil from O.P.G. Enio Zubin in Umag.

Istria, which had the highest number of olive oils in the 2017 guide (61), is once again the region with the most in the guide and named the best olive region.
