Injury Forces Cro Cop Out of Bellator 200 Fight in London

Cro Cop ruled out

Bad news for fans in London hoping to see legendary Croatian fighter Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ fight this Friday evening.

Filipovic should have been on a plane bound for London from Zagreb on Monday but instead, he was being operated on after tearing a ligament in his knee during a routine training session on Friday.

Cro Cop was set to fight for the first time in Bellator MMA against Roy Nelson at Bellator 200 on May 25, at the SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England but the fight has been cancelled.

The 43-year-old, who last fought in Japan on New Year’s Eve, is bitterly disappointed that he will not be able to return to the octagon to fight the 41-year-old American who won by technical knockout the last time they met at UFC 137 in Las Vegas six years ago.

Cro Cop was on a streak of eight wins in a row. His best ever sequence of wins in MMA. The Croatian, who is one of the greatest heavyweights in kickboxing and mixed martial arts’ history, was expected to draw a big crowd in London.

The card is set to be rescheduled with the main fight of the night at the 12,500-capacity arena the Middleweight championships title fight between Rafael Carvalho and Gegard Mousasi.

Bellator MMA, which is a mixed martial arts promotion based in the United States, has been around for 10 years and in 2018 it marks the fourth time that Bellator MMA has done monthly shows as opposed to a seasonal format.
