The President of the Russian Hockey League Aleksander Medvedev has announced that Croatia is set to have a side in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), considered the second best league in the world.

Zagreb’s Medvescak look certainties to join the strong professional Eurasia league next season. “The inspection committee which we sent to Zagreb last Wednesday have returned to Russia with very good impressions. On Tuesday we will present everything at a meeting with KHL club leaders which will be a formality. On Medvescak’s budget is of concern, although the club has stated that they are ready and have not only promised, but guaranteed that,” said Medvedecv to Sport Express.

Top class Canadian and American ice hockey players with Croatian ancestry playing abroad have already indicated their intentions to play for the Zagreb side if they get accepted in the KHL.
