HomeToGo reveals the locations around the world that are experiencing the strongest year-on-year growth
New York, NY, 20 June 2019 – HomeToGo, the world’s largest vacation rental search engine, has disclosed its top trending destinations for summer 2019 with the Croatian island of Hvar making the top ten.
Hvar was ranked in 10th spot with a year-on-year increase in searches of 199%.
Featuring locations from five continents around the globe, the ranking shows that American travelers are increasingly drawn to long-haul adventure travel when it comes to summer vacations.
Six of the top 12 trending destinations for summer 2019 are located in Europe, while three are located in North America. Asia, Africa, and South America each have one destination on the shortlist. In order to calculate the year-on-year increase in searches, HomeToGo examined its own metasearch data, comparing searches from the first five months of 2019 to the same period in 2018.
The results show that the top 12 trending destinations for 2019 are:
- Blue Ridge Mountains – USA – 839% year-on-year growth
- Lanzarote – Spain – 469%
- Halkidiki – Greece – 460%
- Rimouski – Canada – 455%
- Budva – Montenegro – 369%
- Durban – South Africa – 280%
- Boracay – The Philippines – 244%
- Lyon – France – 211%
- Alaska – USA – 210%
- Hvar – Croatia – 199%
- Riga – Latvia – 167%
- Santa Marta – Colombia – 152%
