Huge Turnout in Croatian Presidential Elections

Ivo Josipović and Kolinda Grabar Kitarović are going head to head in what promises to be a tight finish. In the first round of elections Josipović edged his female counterpart by just over 1%. 6,260 polling stations in Croatia and 92 overseas will close this evening before a winner is announced later tonight.

The State Election Commission (DIP) said that by 11:30am on Sunday 778,175 already turned out to vote (21.92% of eligible voters), which is 8.73% more voters than in the first round. The last elections held in Croatia – the European Parliament elections in April 2013, only 20.8% in total turned out to vote.
