Canadian police issue special advice for Croatian fans in Toronto

Canadian police have issued special guidelines for Croatian supporters regarding conduct in public places during their stay in Toronto before and after the Panama–Croatia match on Tuesday evening local time, the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) has announced.

The recommendations cover alcohol consumption, smoking regulations and the use of pyrotechnics, with authorities urging fans to familiarise themselves with local laws to avoid penalties.

Alcohol Consumption

• Drinking alcohol in public places is prohibited. Alcoholic beverages in their original bottles must not be visible while being consumed.

• Alcohol may only be consumed in public if it has been transferred to an unlabelled, opaque container, such as a plastic bottle or a non-transparent aluminium flask without a label.

• Alcohol can be consumed in licensed hospitality venues and their outdoor terraces, as well as in fan zones, around the stadium and inside the stadium, including in the stands, provided it has been purchased within the fan zone or stadium grounds.

• The only outdoor public area where alcohol consumption is specifically permitted is Trinity Bellwoods Park, where Croatian supporters are expected to gather before travelling to the stadium.

Cigarettes, E-Cigarettes and Marijuana

• The use of marijuana is permitted in public spaces within the city, although it is not allowed inside the stadium.

• Smoking cigarettes and using e-cigarettes are prohibited in the stadium stands. Designated smoking areas will be available within the stadium for both cigarettes and e-cigarettes.

Use of Pyrotechnics

• The use of pyrotechnics, including flares, rockets and firecrackers, is strictly prohibited. Anyone found using pyrotechnic devices may face criminal charges.

• Anyone caught using pyrotechnics inside the stadium will be arrested and detained, fined, and could also face deportation from Canada.

Authorities are urging all supporters to respect local regulations and help ensure a safe and enjoyable matchday experience for everyone.
