The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) has confirmed it is aware of an ongoing investigation and arrests linked to a suspected attempt to influence a match official ahead of a football fixture conducted under the federation’s jurisdiction.
In a statement released on Tuesday, HNS strongly condemned all forms of corruption, improper influence on officials and any behaviour that could undermine the integrity of football competitions.
The federation stressed that protecting the integrity of competitions remains one of its highest priorities and stated that there can be no justification for actions that threaten the fairness of the game.
HNS also acknowledged the role of individuals whose responsible conduct helps identify and prevent potential unlawful activities, highlighting the importance of cooperation in safeguarding football competitions.
The federation said it will continue to monitor developments in the case and gather all necessary information before its competent bodies consider any disciplinary measures in accordance with HNS regulations.
Reaffirming its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and match-fixing, HNS noted that it works closely with UEFA and FIFA through competition integrity programmes.
The federation also conducts ongoing educational initiatives for all stakeholders in Croatian football to promote the importance of preserving the integrity of the sport.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter, while HNS has indicated it will take further action once all relevant facts have been established.
