Croatia gains new Michelin-starred restaurant as Harry’s Piccolo earns first star

Croatia has gained a new Michelin-starred restaurant after Harry’s Piccolo in Poreč was awarded one star in the latest Michelin Guide selection for Croatia.

The Istrian restaurant joins a growing list of Croatian establishments recognised by the internationally respected dining guide, following inspections carried out anonymously by Michelin’s professional inspectors.

Harry’s Piccolo is located within Valamar’s recently opened Pical Resort 5*.

Agli Amici in Rovinj retained its two Michelin stars, remaining one of Croatia’s highest-rated restaurants.

A total of 13 other restaurants successfully retained one Michelin star: Krug in Split, Cap Aureo and Monte in Rovinj, Dubravkin put and Noel in Zagreb, Pelegrini in Šibenik, 360º in Dubrovnik, Boškinac in Novalja, LD Restaurant on Korčula, Nebo in Rijeka, Alfred Keller in Mali Lošinj and Korak in Jastrebarsko.

The latest selection also brought three additions to the Bib Gourmand list, Michelin’s distinction for restaurants offering good-quality food at more accessible prices.

Bistro Loora in Đakovo, Lulu Fusion Bistro in Osijek and Nuré in Zagreb were added to the list.

Croatia now has 14 restaurants holding the Bib Gourmand distinction.

Michelin also presented several special awards recognising individual talent and service within the hospitality industry.

Marin Pleše of Vila Rova in Malinska received the Michelin Young Chef Award. Rovinj’s Monte was recognised for the quality of its service, while Branimir Vukšić of Pelegrini in Šibenik was named Sommelier of the Year.

Nuré in Zagreb received the Michelin Opening of the Year Award.

The Croatian National Tourist Board is Michelin’s main destination partner for Croatia. The latest awards follow confidential visits by Michelin inspectors, with the full Croatia selection published by the Michelin Guide.

The new recognition further strengthens Croatia’s position on the international gastronomy map, with restaurants across Istria, Dalmatia, Kvarner, Zagreb and the islands continuing to receive attention from the global dining guide.
