Hajduk Split fans’ association raises money for Split hospital

ZAGREB, April 15 (Hina) – The Hajduk football club from the coastal city of Split and the local football fans’ association “Bilo srce” have raised HRK 870,000 (approx €114,000) to help the city hospital in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic.

The donation, which was raised in a humanitarian drive, will be used to buy the necessary medical equipment for the intensive care unit of the hospital’s ward for orthopedics and traumatology, where the most serious cases of COVID-19 infection are treated, Hajduk said on Wednesday, noting that 487 individuals, associations and companies had participated in the drive.

The football club’s invitation to join in the campaign was accepted by many public figures, many former players and former Hajduk executives. 

Past players who accepted included Danijel Subašić, Mario Pašalić, Nikola Vlašić, Andrija Balić, Ante Palaversa, Anton Maglica, Domagoj Bradarić, Darijo Srna, Slaven Bilić, Ivica Šurjak, Karlo Letica, Goran Milović, Goran Vučević, Mario Maloča, Nikola Jerkan, Zlatko Vujović, Lukša Poklepović and a number of others. 

Donations also came in from all parts of the world, from South America, through Portugal to Germany and from Hajduk Friends Societies.
