The Guinness Book of Records record for the largest gathering of people with the same name is set to be broken this month.

An event, titled ‘1000Ivana’ (1,000 Ivans), organised by the Kupres in Zagreb club, will take place in the town of Kupres in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 30 July 2017.

The aim was to gather more than 1,096 people with the name Ivan for a millennium photo, which will be registered with the Guinness Book of Records as the photo with the largest gathering of people with the same name in one place.

The largest gathering of people with the same first name is 1,096 Mohammeds as part of the Dubai Shopping Festival at Creek Park in Dubai on 10 February 2005.

With the all-day event still 10 days away, a massive 3,000 people have already registered on the website for the event, meaning the record will take some beating when it is registered.

The day will start with a Mass held in the morning, before the gathering of all the Ivans and a procession in the afternoon. There will be food and drink throughout the day and a concert in the evening, with performances from Marko Perković Thompson, Mate Bulić and others.

Visitors will also have a chance during the day to learn more about the stunning natural beauty and rich culture and tradition of this Bosnian-Herzegovinian region.

The Millennium photo will take place at 17:15 on the day.

The final day for registration is today via the official website 1000ivana.com.

Organisers Kupreški Kosci association.
