Filming is set to start for the movie ‘General’ about the life of Croatian General Ante Gotovina.
‘General’ will trace the life of retired General Ante Gotovina, who after a turbulent youth and years spent as a French legionnaire and mercenary, achieved hero status in the Croatian War of Independence.
After being imprisoned by The Hague, Gotovina was acquitted of war crime charges and released from a Hague prison in 2011 after spending 7 years inside.
Gotovina (61) will be played by Croatia’s Hollywood actor Goran Višnjić, who made his name staring as Dr. Luka Kovac in ER, Tportal reports.
The film is directed by Antun Vrdoljak, who happens to also be Višnjić’s father-in-law.
A call has been put out for extras for the film, which will begin shooting in February. The film will also star local actors Tarik Filipović, Goran Navojec and Nataša Janjić.
