LONDON, 13 July 2019 – Goran Ivanisevic’s has had his almost two decade-old Wimbledon record broken by Roger Federer.

Until yesterday, the Croatian held the record for the most ever aces at Wimbledon with a tally of 1,377 hit at the All England Club but now that record is held by Federer after he chalked up ace number 1,378 during his semifinal win against Rafael Nadal on Friday.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner needed just seven aces to pass Ivanisevic before the match and hit it during his fifth service game of the first set. Federer hit 14 aces in total during his four-set win.

Federer needed 21 Wimbledon tournaments to accumulate his aces, whilst Ivanisevic played in 15 Wimbledon tournaments.

Goran still holds the record for the most aces served in a single tournament. In 2001, the year he won Wimbledon as a wildcard, he hit 212 aces in the tournament. This record looks like it will be safe for a while.

Fellow Croatian Ivo Karlović has the most career aces with 13,402.

Most ever aces at Wimbledon:

1398 – Roger Federer
1397 – Goran Ivanisevic
1095 – Pete Sampras
936 – Andy Roddick
912 – Mark Philippoussis
