Goran Ivanišević’s son wins Croatian tennis tournament his father couldn’t win

KARLOVAC, 30 September 2020 – The saying ‘the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree’ certainly runs true for the son of legendary Croatian tennis player Goran Ivanišević (49).

This past weekend, the traditional tournament for girls and boys “Oršanić Memorial” was held at the Karlovac Tennis Club in Karlovac.

Instead of being at Roland Garros in Paris for the French Open, Ivanišević was in Karlovac following his son Emanuel who was playing in the tournament.

The talented youngster made his father proud by winning the tournament.

“Let him take out the tournament that his father in a fraction over 30 years ago couldn’t win! Manči (Emanuel) is the winner of the Marijan Oršanić Memorial in Karlovac,” Goran wrote on Instagram.

Nakon puno godina sam imao priliku doći u klub uz koji me vežu sjajna sjećanja iz djetinjstva. Nekad sam tamo igrao ja, danas igra moj Manči. Hvala na gostoprimstvu, Karlovac!
