Girl (4) in Hospital After Bulk Waste Truck ‘Collects’ Her in Zagreb

CroatiaA young girl is in a Zagreb hospital after being injured in a bizarre incident, when the couch she was lying on was collected by bulk waste collectors.

The incident happened at 21:45 pm on Tuesday evening in the Zagreb suburb of Ribnjak, when the collection truck lowered its crane to collect the couch which was on the side of the road and failed to notice the 4-year-old girl asleep under a blanket on it. The girl was rushed to a Zagreb hospital. It is not known where the small girl’s parents were at the time of the accident, but it is not uncommon for family members of Zagreb’s Roma community to leave kids ‘guarding’ bulk waste sites so they can collect any goods which they can resell.
