PARIS, 27 May 2019 – Borna Ćorić and Donna Vekić have joined fellow Croatians Marin Čilić and Petra Martić in the second round of the 2019 French Open at Roland-Garros.
Ćorić and Vekić both won their first round matches comfortably on Monday. Vekić, who is the tournament’s 23rd seed, brushed aside Russian Liudmila Samsonova today 6-2, 6-4.
The 22-year-old hit 4 aces and won over 80% points on first serve in the victory. She will face the winner of the Putintseva/Peterson match in the second round.
Borna Ćorić was also in first-round action today at Roland-Garros. The 13th seed dropped one set on his way to beating Aljaž Bedene from Slovenia in straight sets, 6-1, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4.
Ćorić meets the winner of the Harris/Rosol match in Round 2.
On Sunday, Petra Martić beat Tunisian Ons Jabeur 6-1, 6-2, whilst Marin Čilić had a straight sets victory over Thomas Fabbiano from Italy 6-3, 7-5, 6-1.
