French-Croat To Turn Back On France

It seems the Croatian national football team will be bolstered by yet another player from its diaspora. French-born Bordeaux midfielder Gregory Sertic (23), who has Croatian ancestry, was reportedly in Croatia over the Christmas period completing paper work to obtain a Croatian passport, making him eligible to play for Igor Stimac’s side, say Jutarnji list.

Sertic, whose grandfather emigrated to France from Croatia, has been capped by the French under-21 side. The Croatian Football Federation have been courting the talented French first division player, despite Sertic’s father earlier stating that he would likely chose to play for France.
