8 December 2019 – The director of the Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) says that the first Hilton resort in Croatia will help further put the city of Rijeka on the tourist map during a visit to the construction site on Friday.

The Hilton Costabella Beach Resort & Spa is currently being built by Czech group JTH on around 2 hectares of land in the Rijeka suburb of Kostabela.

“This year we had an extremely demanding and successful tourist season that exceeded 20 million tourists. The fact that Rijeka is getting such a magnificent new edition in the year when it will be the focus of Europe and the world, is confirmation that tourism is one of the most important activities in the Croatian economy. This hotel will contribute to the further positioning of Rijeka on the world tourist map, which is already recognised as an excellent city break destination with one of the highest growth rates in realised tourist traffic,” said HTZ director Kristjan Stanicic during a visit to the site last week.

The 6-story Hilton-operated resort will have five stars and will feature 132 hotel rooms and 66 apartments and villas. A fitness centre, club for kids, restaurants, bars and other entertainment facilities will also be at the resort. The complex will also have a 30-meter hotel pool, children’s pool and jacuzzi, as well as a wellness area spreading over 4,000 m².

The outdoor heated pool will be 50 m long. From the pool there will be an elevator to a path down to the promenade to a 200 m long beach. There will be mooring spots for tourist boats to rent and also two 80 meters long pebble beaches.

The Hilton Costabella Beach Resort & Spa will be one of the most modern and best Hilton hotels in this part of Europe.

The director of the The Hilton Costabella Beach Resort & Spa, Jose Luiz Ruiz, said it will be the first Hilton hotel resort in Croatia. “We are proud to be able to bring to this area the service provided by Hilton hotels. Our chain has over 6000 hotels connected in 17 industries, as well as over 600 resort hotels located in a wide variety of carefully selected locations around the world. Considering that Rijeka will be the capital of culture next year and that tourism in Rijeka is steadily increasing, tourism in this area is foreseeing a bright future,” Ruiz said.
