First Ever Chestnut Fest A Success As 15,000 Turn Up

More than 15,000 visitors made the most of free chestnuts and cheap wine at Zagreb’s first ever Chestnutfest in glorious sunshine at Lake Bundek on the weekend.

Chestnutfest was the brain child of Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic, and the positive turn out means that the event could become a regular feature on the calendar in the Zagreb capital. Along with free chestnuts and discounted wine, locals could also partake in free carriage rides and trains, whilst children were entertained by street performers, such as clowns and stilt walkers.

A cultural programme also featured on the day with song and dance from many Zagreb Culture Clubs. Zagreb’s European champion majorettes also performed to the large crowds, reported portal politika plus.
