Red Dot, the global design award, has included Davor Bruketa in its Design Diary, which aggregates key information for designers, including a list of around 300 of the most important contemporary designers across generations—from Alvar Aalto and Ron Arad to Neville Brody, Stefan Sagmeister, Irma Boom, and many others.

Davor Bruketa is the first Croatian designer to be featured in the Red Dot Design Diary.

This special publication is released annually by the organisers of the Red Dot Design Award and is designed to combine practical information with inspiration for designers and professionals connected to design across various industries.

This year marks the first time a Croatian designer has been included.

Over his thirty-year career, Bruketa has been the creative director of 29 projects that have received the Red Dot award, three of which have won the prestigious Best of the Best accolade.

The Red Dot Award was established in Germany in 1955 to recognise excellence in product design, communication design, and conceptual design.

Organised by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, the award has, over the years, encouraged innovation across industries ranging from technology and architecture to fashion and branding, promoting design as a driver of cultural and economic progress.

The distinctive red symbol awarded to winners has become an internationally recognised mark of outstanding design, well known among consumers and industry leaders alike.

Davor Bruketa’s inclusion in the Red Dot Design Diary highlights his contribution to the industry and puts Croatia on the map as a country rich in talent.

This recognition has the potential to open doors to new collaborations and projects, both within Croatia and internationally. Being featured in the Red Dot Design Diary is not just a personal achievement but also an acknowledgment of everyone working to advance design in Croatia.

“It is truly an honour to stand ‘date by date’ alongside some of the greatest legends in design history. However, I must say that this recognition is, first and foremost, a reflection of the collective effort and creativity of our team. I am proud to show that ideas from Croatia can be recognised on a global scale. I hope this will inspire other designers in Croatia to believe in their visions and continue creating with enthusiasm,” said Davor Bruketa.

Bruketa&Žinić&Grey (formerly Bruketa&Žinić) won its first Red Dot Best of the Best award in 2007 for Podravka’s annual report, A Fragment from the Eternal Debate on the Heart. This report was designed as a book of evidence that everything done should be done with heart. The heart, as the essence of Podravka’s brand, runs through the entire book.

At its centre is a handwritten text by Ante Tomić, who shares autobiographical reflections on Podravka’s products and their connection to his childhood. The report illustrates how, for millions of people in the region, Podravka’s products are intertwined with memories of their early years.

Following this award, many more have followed for various clients.
