The Croatian water polo team are through to the semi-final of the 2017 Water Polo World Championships in Budapest after beating Italy tonight.

The Croatians, who are unbeaten so far in the tournament after group wins over USA, Russia, and Japan, turned on an impressive performance in front of a big crowd in Budapest on Tuesday night to win 12:9 (3:2, 2:3, 3:1, 4:3).

For Croatia Sandro Sukno, Xavier Garcia, and Anđelo Šetka were impressive, whilst Marko Bijač made some great stops in goal.

Croatia has been world champions once, back in 2007 when they beat Hungary in the final to win gold in Melbourne, Australia.

Croatia will play defending champions Serbia in the semi-final on Thursday, with the final scheduled for Saturday.
