FIFA Dismiss Manchester City’s Racism Allegations Against Croatians

Croatia148Football’s governing body FIFA has found no case to answer to in relation to an incident that saw Patrick Vieira drag his Manchester City U-21 side from the pitch during a friendly in Croatia in July…

Manchester City Under-21s coach Patrick Vieira ordered his team from the pitch after an incident involving French midfielder Seko Fofana. Fofana was shown a red card for an off-the-ball clash, promoting Vieira to march his side off the park with Rijeka juniors leading 1-0, claiming that the Croatian side racially abused his player.

After months investigating the matter, FIFA have confirmed that there would be no further action.

“The chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee considered that, based on the information at his disposal, there were not enough elements to justify the opening of disciplinary proceedings. Also in relation to this matter, the chairman was pleased to observe that Mr Davor Šuker and Mr Patrick Viera engage positively to work through the issue,” a FIFA spokesperson told Croatia Week.
