Europe’s Oldest Coach Not Ready for Retirement Yet

Miroslav Ćiro Blažević, who turns 79 in February, is not quiet ready for the quiet life of retirement and has confirmed that he is in negotiations to take up a job with Croatian 2nd division side Solin.

“I am going on Monday to negotiate. I hope that it is clear to everyone that I am not coming because of money, but because of work,” said the former Croatia coach, who won bronze at the 1998 World Cup in France.

Blažević was named the oldest coach in charge of a European first division side when he took over NK Zagreb last year. Apart from Croatia, Miroslav has coached in Switzerland, Iran and China.
