The Croatian capital Zagreb has once again received European recognition for its transport options. After receiving the European Mobility Week award recently, it now has won the SYNAPTIC Award for Excellence for the best public transport solution relating to the safety of senior citizens.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic said Europe can look to Croatia as a leading example.
“Considering a growing portion of elderly people in Europe, our example will certainly be an encouragement to others, just as we will be encouraged by examples from others,” said Bandic, who hopes to reelected as Mayor on Sunday.
Awards were also presented to London for the best mobility management solution award and to Switzerland for the best multimodal door-to-door travel solution.
