Croatia has finished third at the 2016 EHF European Handball Championship in Poland after beating Norway in the bronze medal match on Sunday…

Croatia bounced back from Friday night’s semi-final loss to Spain and were too good for the Norwegians winning 31:24 in the TAURON Arena in Krakow.

It has been a roller-coaster tournament for the Croatians, who needed a miracle 11-plus victory over the hosts Poland to get through to the semi-finals after looking all but out of the tournament before the medal matches. Unfortunately the miracle effort on Wednesday took it out of the team and they could not get back up against Spain on Friday in the semi-final.

On Sunday however the Croatians were back to their best, and the win now means that Croatia have claimed a direct berth at the World Championship 2017 in France.

It was the fifth time in four years that Croatia were playing for bronze at a major handball tournament.
