€14 Million Less Spent on Croatian Internationals this Transfer Window

jela1Although the January transfer window is traditionally not a period when clubs will sign top players, 14 million euros less was spent on Croatian national team players in the transfer period compared to last year, reports Vecernji list..

Nikica Jelavić, who signed for Hull City from Everton, was the only current Croatian international who moved in the latest transfer window. Although Croatian U19 international  Mario Pašalić signed at the 11th hour for Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea FC from Hajduk Split, this January was slim pickings for clubs who posses Croatian internationals, with 14 million euros less spent than in 2012 when Dinamo Zagreb sold Domagoj Vida (5 million EUR) to Dynamo Kiev, Mateo Kovačić to Inter Milan (11 million EUR) and Ivan Perišić went from Borussia Dortmund to Wolfsburg for 8 million EUR).
