Gearing up for the start of the 77th Dubrovnik Summer Festival

DUBROVNIK, 10 June 2026 – More than 2,000 Croatian and international artists will take part in the 77th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, which will run from 10 July to 25 August 2026 under the theme “Northern Lights”.

During the 47-day festival, audiences can expect more than 70 drama, music, dance, visual arts and accompanying events staged at atmospheric locations across Dubrovnik’s historic centre.

The music programme will feature a number of internationally acclaimed performers. Highlights include the renowned Academy of St Martin in the Fields led by Grammy-winning violinist Joshua Bell, the Croatian debut of French pianist David Fray, soprano Pretty Yende and the return of crossover ensemble The Philharmonix.

Other notable appearances include French violinist Renaud Capuçon, Norwegian baroque ensemble Barokkanerne and rising piano talent David Khrikuli.

The Zagreb Philharmonic will mark its 150th anniversary with a special concert in front of Dubrovnik Cathedral, while the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and the Linđo Folklore Ensemble will again form a central part of the programme.

The drama programme will premiere three new productions. These include Marin Držić’s classic “Skup”, directed by Paolo Magelli, Shakespeare’s “Richard III” directed by Vito Taufer and adapted by Mate Matišić, and Henrik Ibsen’s “The Lady from the Sea”, directed by Ivan Plazibat.

Several acclaimed productions from previous seasons will also return, including “Medea”, “The Fishermen’s Quarrels”, “Equinox”, and “Mara and Kata”.
