Dubrovnik is set to once again celebrate the aromas of tradition, salt and the Adriatic breeze as the 12th Croatian Pršut Days arrive at the end of April.
This travelling event, organised annually by the Croatian Pršut Cluster, moves to a different host city each year. Dubrovnik last welcomed the event in 2018.
The programme begins on 24 April at Hotel Lapad, where industry experts will gather to discuss key issues shaping the sector. Topics will include production growth, increasing pressure from imports and the positioning of Croatian prosciutto on the European market.
The event will also see the selection of the champion pršut, the best product among leading Croatian producers.
“Croatian Pršut Days are designed as a central meeting point for producers, experts and everyone involved in the journey from field to table. The goal is clear, to raise quality and secure the position Croatian prosciutto deserves,” said Ante Madir, Executive Director of the Croatian Pršut Cluster.

Croatia’s pršut story is built on four distinct varieties, Dalmatian, Drniš, Istrian and Krk prosciutto. Each has its own character, yet all share the same philosophy and are protected at European Union level.
While once associated primarily with traditional taverns, pršut production in Croatia has developed into a serious industry. Quality continues to improve in line with European standards, but challenges remain.
Producers are still facing strong competition from imported products, making stronger links with tourism and hospitality increasingly important.

The highlight for visitors will take place on Saturday, 25 April, when Gruž market becomes the centre of activity.
From 9:00, producers will present their prosciutto to the public, offering tastings, comparisons and the opportunity to purchase directly. The award-winning champion pršut will also be available to try.

Producers will remain at their stands while supplies last, expected until around 14:00.
The Dubrovnik edition of Croatian Pršut Days is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, the Croatian Chamber of Economy, Dubrovnik-Neretva County, the Dubrovnik-Neretva Tourist Board and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.
