Vižinada, a small municipality in the heart of Istria, hosted the second edition of the Viva Vino Vižinada tour on April 29th. This recreational and gastronomic event delighted all participants with its ten-kilometer wine walk, leaving them with fond memories to cherish forever. The event was a great success and attracted visitors from far and wide.

The Viva Vino Vižinada tour was announced and applications were being collected before the results of this year’s Vinistra were announced. However, by the start of the walk, the results were out, and Vižinada’s winemakers had every reason to be proud.

This event was an opportunity for visitors to taste some of the newly awarded wines on the trip itself. Visitors can also taste them if they visit the awarded wineries around the municipality of Vižinada.

This was the main purpose of the Viva Vino Vižinada tour: to get to know the wines and winemakers, enjoy delicious snacks from local producers and restaurateurs, and then come back to taste them at their place, in their facilities, without haste, with full pleasure.

Vižinada is known for its world-famous and multiple award-winning wines. Over a million vines are planted in the territory of the Vižinada municipality, which 14 local wineries turn into top-quality wines. With ideal, cloudy but dry weather, the 220 participants of this year’s Viva Vino Vižinada hike went on a ten-kilometer trail through vineyards, olive groves, fields, and woods.

Wineries such as Deklić, Bruno Ferenac, Sosich, Giulio Ferenac, Franc Arman, Pilato, Marino Rossi, and Pino Rossi were also presented at the stations, along with the Istrian prosciutto of agrotourism Selo Mekiši and savory curd cake from the Jadruhi tavern.

The last station offered traditional Istrian cakes, as they are usually prepared for the famous Vižinada summer event, Sweet Istria. The wines from the Arman Marijan and Geržinić wineries were also tasted. At the end of the trip, all participants enjoyed a final party with a concert by the duo Insieme, and a farewell sip.
