Dinamo Zagreb Wins Croatian Title for 19th Time

Dinamo Zagreb claimed their 19th title today (HNS)

Dinamo Zagreb has claimed their 19th Croatian championship on Sunday after rivals Hajduk Split and last year’s champions Rijeka could only manage draws this weekend.

Dinamo Zagreb won the title without taking the field on Sunday after Hajduk Split’s 1-1 draw with Osijek means they mathematically cannot be overtaken.

Dinamo Zagreb plays their round 35 match tomorrow against Rudeš and has a 3-point lead over Rijeka. With the final round next weekend Rijeka can not overtake Dinamo as if points are level it will go down to head-to-head matches and Dinamo has a better record.

Rijeka broke a run of 11 straight titles for Dinamo last season when they lifted the title for the first time in the club’s history.

Dinamo Zagreb’s coach Nikola Jurcevic, who was Slaven Bilic’s right-hand man at West Ham, claims his first Croatian first division title.
