Dinamo Zagreb reaches last 16 of UEFA Youth League

19 February 2019 – Dinamo Zagreb has advanced to the last 16 of the UEFA Youth League after defeating Lokomotiv Moskva in Zagreb on Tuesday afternoon.  

A 13th minute goal from striker Leon Šipoš gave Dinamo the early lead and the score would remain at 1-0 at halftime despite some chances for the home side.

Lokomotiv Moskva had a chance to level the match in the 70th minute when they were awarded a penalty, but Dinamo keeper Dinko Horkaš would save Sulejmanov’s penalty. The visitors did manage to equalise in the 93rd minute when Faizullin found the back of the net to send the match into penalties.

Horkaš would save his second penalty in the match to help Dinamo win the shoot-out 5-4.

Through already to the round of 16 are holders Barcelona (ESP), Ajax (NED), Atlético Madrid (ESP), Hoffenheim (GER), Liverpool (ENG), Manchester United (ENG), Porto (POR), and Real Madrid (ESP). 

The draw for the round of 16 will take place on Friday, 22 February in Nyon, France. 

The Round of 16 matches will be played on 12/13 March with the quarter-finals played on 2/3 April. The semi-finals will be played on 26 April, at Colovray Stadium in Nyon with the final to take place at the same stadium on 29 April.
