Dinamo Zagreb fail to reach UEFA Youth League semifinal

3 April 2019 – Dinamo Zagreb has failed to advance to the semifinals of the UEFA Youth League after being defeated by Chelsea in London on Tuesday afternoon.

After knocking out Liverpool FC in the Round of 16 last month, Dinamo let a 2-0 lead slip today.

After a number of early chances, Dinamo opened the scoring against Chelsea in the 41st minute when Antonio Marin’s shot found its way through a crowd of players in the penalty area.

Marin then made it 2-0 in the 57th minute with his second of the match when he shot from inside the box into the bottom right hand corner giving Chelsea keeper Ziger no chance.

Chelsea captain McCormick pulled one back for Chelsea in the 77th minute before scoring the equalizer with three minutes remaining.

With the scores locked at 2-2 the match would head to penalties which Chelsea would win 4-2.

Chelsea will meet Spanish giants Barcelona in the semifinals which will being played on 26 April at Colovray Stadium in Nyon. 

The final will take place at the same stadium on 29 April.
